What’s in the Future for Alexa (and us)?

Alexa is already well entrenched in the workplace. As a speaker who travels internationally, talking with workers around the world, I hear a common complaint: that office workers spend too much of their day on tedious tasks, such as calendar management, online research, meetings, travel, and more. Alexa can do all of that. Alexa is stealing those jobs, or those tasks from those jobs.

Let’s look at a typical scenario that might occur in the office of today:

Pradeep is a senior vice-president with a Fortune 500 company. He works from his downtown office with executive assistant James sitting outside his door to act as gatekeeper and right-hand-man.

Pradeep calls James into his office to tell him he needs to go to Washington to visit a contact at the International Monetary Fund on Friday for a 9 a.m. meeting. He plans to return that evening. Pradeep asks James to make the arrangements.

While that appears to Pradeep to be a small task, this is what James now has to do:
